Award winning filmmaker Ola Pankratova produced and directed the documentary Solo shot by director of photography Roman Palchenkov. Ola is an honors graduate of the Moscow State University Faculty of Journalism where her proof-of-concept short of the same name won the audience award in 2014.  Solo gives audiences the opportunity to see dancers in their raw environments. Mikhail Kryuchkov is a corps de ballet dancer at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Russia where he has danced since 2006. 
Songriter, singer, and Vogue dancer extraordinaire Alena Bonchinche is the winner of numerous dance awards and has appeared on the popular TV show Танцы (Dance). Contemporary dancer Alex Turgunakov Alex Torgunakov talks about creative inspiration and life as a dancer in Poland post Bolshoi Theater. In the world of experimental Hip-Hop Kristina Kasyanenko a.k.a. Kristy explores the psychology and nature of dance improvisation. World champion of Pole Dancing Dmitry Politov brings his incredible art and unique talent to the screen of Solo.
The undisputed queen of Russian Krump Dilyara Turaveeva a.k.a Lady Whiphead, who was also on the dance show Танцы, takes Solo on a tour of her sizzling performances. The film supports the inclusion of all individuals and is a model for promoting women filmmakers in the movie industry. Take a tour into a world you have never seen or experienced and witness the magic of unedited pure dance.

  • Solo was filmed over a period of three years in Russia, Germany, France, and Poland.

  • Several of the dancers suffered injuries during the course of the documentary production.
